THE PROGRAM
Our Creative Residencies / Work Exchange Program is an integral way of becoming part of our community.
Cover your accommodation costs through your passions and skills. Build lifelong relationships and learn what it takes to live on a permaculture farm and intentional community.
We're looking for independent individuals who can take initiative and add value without constant supervision. People who are here to contribute, not just consume.
This isn't a vacation with chores. It's an exchange — your skills for an experience you can't buy anywhere.
Accommodation is in shared rooms or private, depending on availability.
SKILLS WE PRIORITIZE
What you can bring.
Tropical Farming
Hands-on experience with tropical agriculture, agroforestry, composting, or permaculture systems.
Creative Cooking
Preparing nourishing meals for groups using farm-fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients.
Content Creation
Photography, videography, social media, or storytelling to share the Protopia journey with the world.
We prioritize experienced work exchangers with specific talents in these areas.
Natural Building
Bio-construction, earth building, carpentry, or structural work using natural materials from the land.
Regenerative Arts
Art-making, sculpture, mural work, or creative projects that give back to the space and community.
Other Skills
Bring something we haven't thought of. If you have a skill that adds value to community life, tell us about it.
IN RETURN
What you get.
Accommodation
Shared or private rooms depending on availability. Surrounded by jungle, walking distance from everything.
Hands-on skills
Learn tropical farming, natural building, fermentation, herbalism — real skills you take with you forever.
Free time to explore
Weekends off. Swim in the river, hike to the waterfall, visit the volcano. The jungle is your backyard.
4 hours of work, 20 hours of living. The rest of your time is yours.
Three meals a day
Farm-first meals prepared by Jungle Chef JP. Vegetarian, vegan, and meat options. You eat with the community.
Community life
Morning movement, fire circles, workshops, music nights. You're not a visitor — you're part of the rhythm.
Lifelong connections
Living and building together creates bonds that last. Many volunteers return or stay longer than planned.
